This is by far my favorite awards show! I eagerly watch the truly talented yet unknown performers accept what I believe is the most prestigious award because their performances are live, not extra takes! This year, I was left with mixed emotions. I was sorely disappointed at the amount of A-listers that were in this season's shows! Leave the talent to the real pros! Don't ass-rape real art by shoving your face on the billboards around Times Square. Thankfully, when I went to New York, I saw Broadway performances by true performers who live not so glamorous lives compared to their celebrity peers.
Red, Fences and Memphis were the main winners of the night! They were wonderful! The performances of all the shows were amazing!
As a self proclaimed Gleek, I can not let the performances by Glee's Matthew Morrison and Lea Michelle go unnoticed. For Morrison, it seemed apparent that he hasn't performed on stage for a while. He was breathy during the last half of "All I Need Is The Girl". But who cares? Mr. Shu looked sexy as always. So, that distracted me. Michelle, in my opinion sang "Don't Rain on My Parade" better than she did on Glee. But please, can she sing another song? I'm sick of her trying to out-Barbara Barbara Streisand. It's funny on Glee, not in real life. I'd rather have seen Barbara sing it again!
Well, all I hope for next year is less celebrities and more artists at the Tony's.
